Baturunan, Perahu Kepala Naga Diturunkan ke Sungai Segah

Tanjung Redeb –

Baturunan, Dragon Head Boat is Sent to the Segah River

The Regional Government through the Berau Regency Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) raised the Culture of the Baturunan Ceremony. Starting in 2014, in the courtyard of the Berau Regency Batiwakkal Museum on Mount Tabur a Ceremony of Manambat Parau was held. The race boat next to the Museum in wheat flour by Putri was recited by the elders of the Mount Tabur Religion, then the boat weighing more than 300 kilograms was lifted together with one commando, then lowered to the Segah River on Saturday (9/28) morning.

“This tradition needs to be preserved and packaged even better because it is one of the attractions of tourists who come to Berau. Do not let them come here it turns out that what is seen is not as imagined, what we also have received the title of the second best imperial imperial fashion. For that reason, anything that includes a series of Baturunan events needs to be displayed even better, “explained the Regent of Berau Muharram.

The wooden trains with a yellow color are 19 meters long. On the hull, the boat has a width of one meter. Built from red wood material, this boat is capable of carrying 30 adult men. The front end of the boat shaped carved dragon’s head was gaping. Its trunk is written NagaSekuin which in Banua (Berau) means two-headed dragon. Aft tail-shaped stern carved short round.

For the many times, the Sekuin Naga will be a sign of the start of the Berau community’s long rowing boat as part of the Berau District’s 66th Anniversary celebration. Dragon Sekuin itself is an object belonging to the palace. Before being relegated to the match, the traditional elders of Gunung Tabur suggested (in Banua to mean offering offerings and prayed) for the boat and its sailors to feel strong, stay safe, and win the match. After menyarandu, as many as 30 men carried the Sekuin Dragon in a group and placed it on the edge of the Segah River. Although the distance is quite close, it turns out that it is not easy to carry the Sekuin because of the weight and length of the boat.

Explained by the Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of Berau, Masrani, the Beraunese people, the whole procession is known as Baturunan tradition. This tradition has been passed down from the time the Berau Kingdom was founded.

“Real arrangements have the same meaning as mutual cooperation of residents who help one another if there is one resident who has not yet finished harvesting rice. Likewise, if there are residents who finished building the boat. When the boat was about to be lowered to the river, the neighbors were invited and relatives were invited to eat together and then proceed with pushing the boat together to the river. Baturunan can also be interpreted as friendship, friendship, friendship, security, kinship, cooperation, cohesiveness, one purpose, to promote the unity and integrity of the Berau community,” he explained.
