Wagub Selling Maratua and Labuan Cermin to Sydney

The East Kalimantan Provincial Government explores 3 areas of cooperation with the Australian Government and investors in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia, namely cooperation in the field of human resource development (HR), tourism and increasing regional economic capacity (trade and investment). The plan to explore this collaboration was led by East Kalimantan Deputy Governor Hadi Mulyadi. The first step taken was to meet the Indonesian Consul General for New South Wales, Queenslan and South Australia based in Sydney, Heru Hartato Subolo.

“Our educational orientation was always European and American. Though Australia is apparently very expert in agriculture, mineral and services, “said Hadi Mulyadi, in Sydney, Monday (5/8/2019).

Next, Hadi also offers tourism potential that lies in the Derawan archipelago.

“We have many beaches that are still natural and very charming. There are Maratua and Kakaban with upside down and non-toxic jellyfish. We also have Lake Labuhan Cermin, one of the ten most beautiful lakes in the world, “said Hadi.

Hadi also explained that access to Maratua is now open. Travelers from Australia can use the flight path from Australia to Bali, continue to Balikpapan or Samarinda, and there are already direct flights from Samarinda and Balikpapan to Maratua.

“For Samarinda to Bali, there are now even two airlines, City Link and Batik Air. And there are direct flights to Maratua, which makes it very easy for tourists,” Hadi said convincingly.

The Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Heru Hartato Subolo will be happy to help promote the various potentials of East Kalimantan.

“Even though we are in Sydney, we are also‘ staff ’father. We will be happy to help promote various East Kalimantan potentials in the fields of tourism, investment and trade, including cooperation in the field of HR development, “said Heru Hartato Subolo.

He then revealed that Australian tourists usually prefer water and beaches. “Water, beaches, diving and the natural scenery they like the most,” he continued.

As for the education sector, the official who claimed to have worked for eight years in the United States explained the potential of cooperation with a number of polytechnics who are experts in agriculture and plantations, as well as mineral and coal. “It is up to East Kalimantan to choose which education cooperation focus,” Heru said.

While for Australian investment affairs to East Kalimantan in the first quarter of 2019 revealed Heru Hartato Subolo an increase of 19.89 percent compared to the same period last year. The increase in investment realization was dominated by the mining sector reaching 70 percent, and the remainder was filled by the food, plantation and other sub-sectors.

As for the 2018 foreign investment realization to East Kalimantan, Heru said there were at least 170 projects. 57.26 percent are in Bontang and the rest are in East Kutai, West Kutai and other areas in East Kalimantan. “The realization of the project includes electricity, water, gas, mining and food generation,” he added.

Even though he claims to be ready to help promote the potential of East Kalimantan, Heru Hartato still hopes that the East Kalimantan Provincial Government will support the data and information regarding the things offered. “We cannot work alone here. We still need support, especially data on what is superior to East Kalimantan so that we can offer it to our partners here, “Heru emphasized.

During this visit to Australia, Deputy Governor Hadi Mulyadi was accompanied by his wife, Hj Erni Makmur Hadi Mulyadi, Head of the General Bureau S Adiyat and Acting Karo Humas Riawati. (humasprovkaltim/bangun banua)
